This is a type of photography that captures subjects within public spaces in candid situations. Street photographs are regarded as mirror images of society since they display unaware subjects in scenes that are not manipulated. There are different types of street photographs. Unobtrusive photographs are taken without the photographer infringing on the personal space of the subjects. On the other hand intrusive photographs are taken more aggressively, almost like ‘in your face’. In raw street photography, everything is allowed while in fine art the images are captured to be pleasing to the eye. Lastly, smart photographs are intelligently captured and portraiture involves capturing portraits of people in an environment that is not controlled. With the unrealistic and untrue representations of society as commonly depicted by various media outlets, street photography plays an important role in bringing out the real and undistorted reality.
