Portrait photography

Portrait photography, also known as portraiture, is a form of photography that captures a person or a group of people in a way that the face, facial features as well as the facial expressions of the subject are predominant. As such, portrait photographers usually focus on the subject’s face.

However, this does not mean that the rest of the body or the surrounding will not be included. There are different types of portrait photography. These include traditional portrait, environmental portrait, candid portrait, glamour portrait, lifestyle portrait, surreal portrait, conceptual portrait and abstract portrait.

Most of the styles of portrait photography are a combination of the different styles of photography with the special emphasis on facial appearance that makes them portrait photographs. Portrait photographs can be used as personalized gifts, social media profile, as a print on a T-shirt, as a passport photo and generally to transform oneself into a work of art.
