I began having a strong interest in plants as a photo subject when I attended an unforgettable 1976 photo exhibition, Gasho Yamamura's "Shokubutsu ni" (The Plants) held at the Ginza Nikon Salon. At the time, my shooting mostly involved snapshots taken while walking around town. Though plants did appear in some of my pictures, after seeing that exhibition, they began to occupy a large part of my work.
Regrettably, I never had the opportunity to meet Mr. Yamamura, who passed away in 1987. By curious coincidence, in that same year I had an exhibition entitled "breath" at the Ginza Canon Salon. The theme of that exhibition was "plant leaves." Even today, I continue to photograph plants alongside shootings of regular snapshots
When I received an invitation to participate in this project and found out that the theme was "Eternity at a Moment," the first thing that came to mind was "plants." Confronting the plants head on, I capture the images with a desire to preserve the moment in which the plants and I fall in a perfect state of correspondence with each other.
Feedback on having used 18-270mm (Model B008)
Since the time of the B003 model, I have appreciated the VC (Vibration Compensation) feature as it enables me to use my own eye to check the moment of stillness through the viewfinder. However, the VC (Vibration Compensation) capabilities have evolved even further, as it now comes with a new, image stabilization mechanism. Offering ease of operation and PZD (Piezo Drive) autofocusing as well as its even more compact size and weight, the B008's specifications are phenomenal.
